I need to learn to view myself this way.
Would you believe Robert Smith?
Thanks, I’ll get there.

Virginia Prince was groundbreaking- but recognized as problematic in her own time.
She didn’t want gay people as part of her org - and didn’t speak well of them or people who transitioned. Particularly folks who had surgery. Though she herself lived full time and took hormones- and as far as I could tell - had implants. She still referred to herself as a heterosexual crossdresser.
Someone I know called her an asshole after she made fun of a young trans woman friend of hers because of her style of clothing, telling her she looked like a boy.
She does sound like an asshole.
An interesting earlier support group and trans group were the Cercle Hermaphoditos and Jenny June.
Some earlier gay historian (Katz?) originally claimed the group as the first gay rights group. It became clear to others it was a trans group. But where it met - Paresis Hall - was a gay club.
This was clearly laid to rest when the long lost manuscript of Jenny June’s transition was found by researchers at Drexel University in 2010. A friend had a hand in that.
And groundbreaking and brave in her time and way. But - yeah - wrong and bigoted when peers weren’t. That incident was in P-Town in the early 80’s.
“Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, who is also an executive producer of Joyland , published a defense of the film in Variety. “[T]he film reflects reality for millions of ordinary Pakistanis, people who yearn for freedom and fulfillment, people who create moments of joy every day for those they love,” she wrote.“
Interesting. On my list.
For the UK.
There’s always somebody to talk to and as Captain Janey says, “We’re in this together and we love you.”
Today is #TransDayofRemembrance when we honor and remember trans lives taken by violence. How horrifying that a deadly attack upon the LGBTQ+ community in Colorado Springs should occur right before this solemn day.
Hate isn’t born in us. It is taught. It must end.
This starts with our political leaders, who must cease their cynical attacks against our community before another attack occurs.
Call out the hate. Remind them of its consequences. Hold them to account.
