He uses ropes, climbing gear and a small chainsaw. I saw him remove a branch from a tree, cutting it into pieces without dropping anything on the house below.

Exactly! They should have forked over the money to hire a professional or left the tree alone. A professional means that only the target tree is harmed. No other people and no property at risk.
