The source of the “rough weather”? The boats themselves, particularly the larger ones, and even moreso the one’s going fast in a no-wake zone. A lot of those. Trump folk, doncha know.

My first thought was, the nimrods that sank neglected to put in the drain plugs before launching. Not surprised to learn that they sank each other via wakes.
These are the same type of people that drive their pickups down flooded streets & drown other vehicles, shove wakes into houses, etc.
