The Internet Archive doesn’t have the capability of real-time tracking for every change on every site in the world. If the site was hacked and restored in between indexing periods (almost certainly the case since the changes were only visible for 30 minutes) then you wouldn’t be able to see the hacked version of the page on the archive.
The incident definitely happened, it was independently reported by several major news outlets and confirmed by a spokesperson for the campaign.
