Shit, does that mean I’d get drafted?!
I actually liked her. Not going to pretend otherwise. I thought she was one of the more honest ones and that was why they hated her so much, worked overtime to get her tarred as corrupt.
Assholes. Iowa can go fuck itself, I’m seriously considering renouncing my American citizenship.
Warren 2020
It doesn’t count as an “uprising” if it’s violence committed on BEHALF of the state. More like a “down-putting.”
It kind of is in the sense that law enforcement functions with more or less autonomy in much of the US. They can often decide their own budgets, policies, etc. So even when most people don’t agree, there is no easy way to vote fixes to the problem. It is a systemic problem which has I think has been facilitated by The State, but largely runs on its own. So yes, I would say that having an unaccountable piece of government apparatus weasel into other areas with an expansionist agenda can be considered an uprising of sorts. In the sense that they are trying to circumvent controls upon them.
But that was kind of tangential to the post anyway.
I’d love that. Never understood why she didn’t run this time.
Hillary was just subjected to one of the ugliest, drawn-out smear campaigns in American history, and she is a pragmatic centrist. She fought through it all like a champ and she still lost because America is incredibly sexist. I can’t blame Warren for choosing not to put herself through that.
Daylight Savings Time is over. America will now enter two years, minimum, of darkness.
Oh, and everyone who didn’t vote, or voted third party: congratulations on your victory tonight.
I think she was smart enough to know Hillary had the DNC in the bag and and they would crush her like they crushed Bernie. And if both she and Bernie ran it would split the same vote, and he had more momentum.
I guess we’ll see in 2020.
Right. The worst you could blame her for is playing the game. But how else do you expect her to win it?
Oh, and everyone who …voted third party
Now you’re just excusing your fundamental failures again. Stop blaming this on external forces like a Russian media outlet - this was not foreign saboteurs, it was an own goal. That two party bullshit is especially weak tonight. What has 30 years of ‘The Democrats are our corporate whores, but they’re soooo much better than their corporate whores that you’re Satan if you don’t vote for us’ gotten you here?
Oh, and everyone who didn’t vote: congratulations on your victory tonight.
Yeah, that’s your fault again. You’re supposed to offer someone who people can get out and vote for, like Obama. Instead you let Hillary steal it and everyone was zzzzzz.
Edit: Argh, I’m being a dick again, but the election is over. You lost terribly. This was not the fault of the third parties or people who didn’t vote, this was actively the fault of the DNC. You can stop closing ranks around her just because she’s your candidate and stop blaming saboteurs and think about what happened.
SCANDAL: Politician leverages longstanding connections and relationships within party in attempt to win nomination even though other candidates want it really bad too
Ah, indeed: the alt-right (and the Orange Fartmongler, for that matter) get what they want – to their sorrow, hopefully.
Personally I expect that this will take about a year at least; a year in which they will learn that a President is not a King; that despite nearly half the nation rallying behind him, you still have to take the other half-and-change into account, despite your wishes.
Better get used to the exploding-trashbag-full-of-meat sound of Trumpian expectation getting crushed by reality. We’re going to be hearing it quite a lot, methinks.
then you haven’t talked to me.
your statement really shows to me what 40 years of attacks by a group of right-wing billionaires has the power to do. they can turn the world upside down and make liberals despise a liberal candidate, and then sneer as they let donald trump walk away with the presidency and any hope for a liberal supreme court for the next 20-30 years. i was young enough to hope during the reagan-bush years but i’m not anymore. i thank all of you who sneered, all of you who stayed home rather than vote for hillary, all of you who voted for stein and johnson, thank you all so much,
20 million people stripped of healthcare
the effective end of roe v wade
the end of voting rights for people of color in the south and much of the midwest
the end of any attempt to keep climate change to 2 degrees
any hope that black lives matter
thank you so much.
thank you too.
So much for the idea that “America is great because America is good.” I’m beyond shocked. I’m not sure how I’m gonna sleep again.
impeached by whom, a Republican-dominated Congress? You have a better chance to get on a manned mission to Mars in the next 8 years - and I mean yourself, Mr. Wolfman_al2, not some NASA dude.
It´s almost comical that Sanders would very likely be president right now instead of Donald motherfucking Trump, had the DNC given a single fuck about who the electorate wanted. This election is a cesura for the U.S. and the world and the future is looking just as bleak as it would have looked bright without the DNC´s spineless support of the establishment. Maybe an old white male just didn´t fit the profile anymore in these enlightened times.
that’s my point, isn’t it? middle class whites have long been comforted thinking that the american divides were economic ones. on numerous fronts, people seem willing to say it’s the non white male turn out that has swayed the day.
the truth is, there’s are historic racial and gender divides continuing to – trump – all other concerns.
perhaps no one of us removed any person from the polls directly, but can you really say we’ve been standing up to ensure everyone is represented adequately?
i know i haven’t.
maybe for the first time in a while now, whites will be so directly affected we’ll actually do our part.
we’ll see i guess*.
( *off the cuff remarks brought to you by what i fear is going to be the start of a very bad eight years. )
