So when will the medical community realize that if they even hint that a treatment has promise, Trump will proclaim that he discovered a miracle cure for COVID while hacking at the rough on his golf course and carried it to the FDA with his own two hands?

They’re very aware of it, I’m sure. For decades, science journalism has been ignoring nuance in favor of headlines, but usually the gov’t had some responsibility. Usually we don’t have a president that’s in synch with National Enquirer level of journalism, but it’s not like they can afford to slow down their work just because they know Trump will not understand it.
