Not surprised by that at all…
I’ve seen bb threads this long before, but not with soooo many posts upvoted 10+ times. We’re a happy bunch today!
This news, soooooooooooo great!
Me, earlier:
ZOMG! ZOMG! ZOMG!
I can see him trying to spin this now: “A perfect score, 34 of 34, no President EVER got SUCH a perfect, the really best, score.”
I was so ready for the crushing disappointment of an acquittal that it took a minute to sink in that they really convicted him. He’s a bully, and I love a good bully comeuppance.
Trump for Prison 2024!
Alternatively, he might employ any means necessary to minimize his punishment, including lying to the probation board and cry the tears of a man realizing and accepting his guilt. Once successful, he could subtly signal his supporters with nods and winks, insinuating that even if he did fabricate facts to secure a lighter sentence, it was justified due to the perceived corruption within the Biden administration and NYC’s government. His zombie minions might readily excuse such behavior, but the probation board would not and react by pulling him back in. Let’s see how smart Trump believes himself to be.
big detail a lot of folks are overlooking imho.
i think he might serve a small stint in jail – especially if he goes off the rails on social media between now and sentencing, which is almost certain to happen.
For those with questions, Michael Harriot has a few answers:
Found by my wife, paraphrased:
Trump found guilty on 34 felonies. Google Trump Rule 34 to find out more.
Between now and sentencing? I’d be surprised if it wasn’t between now and Friday.
I think this was to prevent let say a bad faith political party from bringing up bogus charges and convictions to its political rivals to eliminate them from being legally qualified candidates.
Since he is now and forever a felon, are there any, you know, restrictions on his travel? I know some countries are pretty strict about restricting entry to felons, and I’m still surprised he is allowed to have a passport in his possession, let alone a transoceanic-capable jet – any chance of one, the other, or both being held as part of a flight risk mitigation plan?
It could, though. I mean, how many people said that we’d never get a conviction against him? Yet, here we are… And a challenge wouldn’t necessarily mean that they won’t still make him the nominee, but if even people at the convention come out against him, that’s good news and might embolden others to break with the MAGA wing of the party…
Maybe we need to stop giving into nihilism, more generally though. Today was a GREAT outcome and shows that there is hope yet.
