I suspect a whole lotta “not much” is actually gonna happen. A few wackos will act out, but most people have seen the outcome of Jan6, and have some awareness of consequences.

If Trump and his insurrectionists try the same thing on January 6th, 2025 as they did in 2021, law enforcement likely is going to be a lot more prepared to defend themselves, with lethal force if necessary, to avoid the same threat to members of Congress that MAGA posed in 2021.
So yes, Trump, if you don’t get elected and you try a coup like you did in 2021, it’s likely to be a bloodbath. But your cultists are the ones whose blood is likely to be shed. Not that you care, since you think you’re going to escape consequences like you’ve always done.

Police will probably be prepared for another attack on the Capitol (as they should be) but if violence breaks out again it seems more likely to take a different form at a different place rather than a direct reenactment of January 6. It’s not like Hitler & Friends just kept trying armed takeovers of beer halls until they finally succeeded.

Republicans seem intent on a bloodbath being the only possible outcome. They refuse to let the rest of us exist in peace and it seems unlikely that they’re going to voluntarily stop being Nazis and slink back under their rocks even if their tangerine god kicks the bucket, so eventually it looks like it’s going to come to violence. They’ll start it, but we’ll finish it. I very much hope it takes the form of another failed MAGA coup rather than Civil War II (or even worse, having to overthrow a Trump dictatorship), but a large fascist infestation like we have is not sustainable in the long run and eventually it will reach a breaking point.

I wish I shared that opinion. I think at the least we’ll see a marked increase in stochastic terrorism and associated attacks. We need to drive these monsters back under their rocks.

“not much” would be better than some scenarios I am picturing. As I see things, the competition for the media spotlight grows increasingly intense. If a “few wackos will act out” they’ll have to go to further and further extremes to get the attention they crave. Also, I feel as though there is a burgeoning “economy of ugly” that offers financial incentives for achieving notoriety (being the media magnet that notoriety has become). The promise of paychecks and donations is a convenient way to justify misbehavior to yourself and others. “Hey, I’m just trying to make a living…”

He tried to, but didn’t have support from the army, so all he had left was a reenactment of the failed us coup with his followers.
It was divulged this week by the brazilian supreme court that he approached the commanders form army, navy and air force, but only the navy one offered support.
From the testimony of the army commander, he even threatened to arrest bolsonaro if he continued to ask for help.
