Well to be fair, it’s like turning 30 or 40. It doesn’t really matter one day to the next. There are zero consequences at this point for his actions. If he had any sense of shame or morals he might FEEL bad/impeached. But he doesn’t, so.
i wouldn’t even have said it except in response to people saying we must be somber and not celebrate this dumb tyrant getting his comeuppance. let us have our small wins. thats all I’m saying. in a world going to hell we cant celebrate a little bit? let people be happy when they can. thats all im saying.
There’s also possible RBG replacement, the hundreds of stalled bills, budgets, the goddamn wall and a hundred other things that necessitate Pelosi slow walking this thing for months.
I agree, my instincts are not to give the Republicans ammunition that will drive turn-out in the election.
But I have to give credit to Pelosi where it’s due. I figured there was an 80% chance that the impeachment would significantly damage the Democrats election chances and she found exactly the right time and issue to give the party faithful what they wanted and needed (impeachment) and not give the Republicans what they wanted (an issue that will drive their members to the polls).
Given her mastery of that potentially explosive issue, I’m quite willing to trust her political instinct on the rest.
