And that’s basically his ONLY real accomplishment thus far…

Well, that would have required Trump to read something … we know THAT’S not gonna happen.

My taxes went up about 2% thanks to this tax bill.

I sure am glad those billionaires are going to get extra money. Money that I would have spent on goods and services that is instead going to be put in some financial instrument that we will only learn about during the next financial crisis.

This is the problem with supply side economics. It has injected so much capital into the top that investors are looking for anything anywhere to get a return. This destabilizes the market and creates bubbles. Instead of stimulating the economy the money is used to make bets on bets on bets until some molehill of a crisis is turned into a mountain by the cascading collapse of these nested products.

The thing I hate most about the new tax code is how it basically makes charitable contributions not tax deductible, because the cap on itemized deductions is so low that only the standard deduction makes sense.

He is a rich stupid asshole, well, what did people expect? That he stands up for the little guy instead of lining his pockets and the pockets of his rich stupid asshole “friends” (in quotes because a indiviual like him doesn´t really have any friends)? Don´t make me laugh in a sarcastic manner.

…what if Trump had spread the tax breaks around, giving, say, $5,000 to every household with a combined income of less than $75,000? What if he tailored the breaks to his base, farmers, old people, blue-collar workers (while stiffing poor people)?

That would have made him a real populist instead of a two-bit short-sighted grifter.

He’s more comfortable being the two-bit short-sighted grifter.

Where is Germany? Seriously we can´t be below the UK.

Perhaps something having to do with the index being used, and/or Germany is just a gnat’s ass below the UK?

Also, the list may be just a snapshot for a particular year…?

My Dear Wife and I spent an extensive amount of time researching New Zealand as a place to emigrate to, visited Wellington twice for several weeks at each time. Alas, her Mother is our ward now, and that idea got scrapped posthaste. We’ve traveled to every country on that list, except Norway. The trip to Finland was a real eye opener, the country side is beyond my meager narration abilities, a post card photo everywhere you turned.

True, we don´t see which year this list is from, could be 20 years old for all we know. Germany is currently booming with low unemployment and a general good ecomomy and the UK is allready feeling the Brexit pain, so its VERY unllikely that the UK is doing better than Germany.

To be fair, it’s entirely possible that their goals in applying supply-side thinking was entirely successful, which is ending the welfare state as we know it… starving the beast as Grover Norquist is fond of saying… it’s just not great for the rest of us…

Okay, so it wasn’t like Lars von Trier’s “The Kingdom”.

Yes, that pesky other 99% of the population can be troublesome for the landed gentry.

Indeed, but for them, they are the “job creators” and the rest of us are either cheap labor or annoying peasants…

I’ve just checked. The list is based on a 2017 study.
