SARS-CoV-2 is shorthand for “Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2”
Covid-19 is shorthand for “Novel Coronavirus Disease 2019”
Both are accurate, but the second rolls off the tongue a bit easier.
It’s not like the virus cares what you call it.

Double pedant alert: SARS-CoV-2 is the new virus that causes the disease. COVID-19 is the disease that the virus causes. They are different, like HIV and AIDS.
