Trump planned Venezuela coup, inasmuch he is capable of "planning" anything

Problem is, well, the Venezuelan Armed Forces are, by definition, corrupt.

Both Chávez and Maduro have gave them enourmous opportunity for profit in illegal business, and by the very nature of that, finding one guy that said no, I pass, I dont want to smuggle drugs/gas/etc would be impossible - those guys wouldnt have any power or position, because well, who wants somebody that spoils the party…

I guess some of them, corrupt and all, have seen the path the country is going and fear that being the king of a disaster area is not so much fun, but any solution they implement would be, mostly, about how anything else can change except their priviledges and money-making schemes

Nah… They just want to drop some heavy tons of ‘democracy’ in Venezuela… Nothing we saw before in Chile, Brazil, Argentina in 1960s.

And americans go fucking bonkers when Chilean left says that 9-11 was karma for Allende (that was coup-seized and killed at another 9-11)

Wearing a sorting hat?

Red IS a Gryffindor color, but I don’t see the Communist or Republican parties really living up to Godricks ideals.

BTW, seems like the revelation is having the predictable effect.

Everything is about the US, and Maduro is a “victim” of “conspiracies” and Venezuela suffer not due to being in the hand of murderous thieves and incompetents, but the US.

Because, as usual, seems kinda difficult to realize the enemy of my enemy can be a mighty asshole, too.

What could go wrong? Taking into account all the other coups the US has instigated in the last century, the answer is “everything.”

Hello there I’m gonna use this space to bring several facts that are commonly omitted by several actors in the diatribe of the Venezuelan situation, I’m a Venezuelan living in Venezuela, nothing special.

The Chavistas won their last election in 2013 (Abusing the rules and keeping the poles open after late night to rally people treading them to be cut them out of social programs and win the election for a few hundred thousand) since then the opposition took over the national assembly, and the prospects of losing more spaces turn the CNE (the elections authority) into a full flagged pro Chavista dispatch losing all credibility. So the myth of the popular government die years ago, there are a few media empires that still tell that tale, TeleSur (a propaganda channel of the Chavista government) is one of them, I urge Every reader of this board to avoid been fool by them, there is no difference between TeleSur and the office of communications of the current Venezuelan Regime, they are a propaganda and misinformation machine fulled by the pseudo governments money and interest that still clings over South America.

The 1% narrative does not apply in the Venezuelan Media landscape, I dare to Name One Venezuelan media outlet critical to the government that still stands without been forcibly closed down or censored. And it does not apply to the numbers of people against the current regime, the majority is not pro-Chavista since 2013.

On the other hand there is no economic sabotage, that’s a Chavista farse, the regime has been so corrupt and mismanaged that the biggest multi-year bonanza of income from a +$120 a barrel of oil was turned into nothing… all that stolen and/or turn into corruption driven social programs that fail to reach it’s social goals, but make rich a lot of relatives of the regime leaders… and ended under their own unsustainable weight.

There are no Mayor or significative economic sanctions on the Country, there are economic and financial restrictions on INDIVIDUALS, all big and prominent figures in the actual regime, the country is in default for more than 6000 million dollars but still send free oil to Cuba, We are the country with the biggest reserve of oil but we Buy gasoline from the US for our internal use because our oil industry is in shambles, so for a change our economic tragedy is not coming from the US of the UK or any other imperialistic force, it comes from within and is commanded by a pseudo-government made of alleged criminals in a committee or for lack of a better word a Cartel; each fighting for its quota of power and survival.

On the Caracazo straw man; 30 years ago the economy was in shambles and a change was needed, (we can argue about the nature of the changes and their validity) but ultimately those changes were harsh and hit poor people badly, the people took the streets and civil unrest reign and for several days chaos took over my city, the government act bluntly and recklessly (and they should be punished for that, but that never happened). Then the Chavistas took the opportunity to capitalize that resentment. They orchestrated a coup and try to kill the president and several other government figures, they fail were captured and they were trail and convicted by the letter of the law, and with respect of their rights.

We are talking rebel military forces a few hundred of low-level officials (Chavez was a Lieutenant Colonel) and a handful of high-rank officials; they kill fellow soldiers and civilians that day, their agenda was not to call to elections and give the people voice, their agenda was to kill and take no prisoners to seize power and set up a dictatorship like the one in Cuba. This was widely told by themselves without any coercion, it was a badge of honor to them.

They were later set free via presidential pardon (a historical mistake like no other) took under the wing of old politicians and wealthy businessmen instruct in the vines of the electoral process and democracy. Just to the extent to be elected, then expel and execrate all those political and economical “mentors” that helped wash their face of the filth that is their true and actual nature; a totalitarian group of fascist and criminals with more interest in keep their privileges than helping the people.

Those few officials and civilians are current day Chavistas.

So there is that little gap there in your narrative, something that you are not gonna see in TeleSur, and sadly in any TV station in Venezuela because of the crackdown in the past 20 years on the free press and independent journalism.

All major TV and newspapers have been forced to bankruptcy, force to be sold to regime’s frontmen or simply close down by decree without any regard of the current law (that they wrote, that’s right the 1999 constitution gives a bunch of safeguards and rights to all Venezuelans but the regime just apply the ones that they see convenient at the moment, all that via a mockery legal system and total absence of separation of power there is just a furious will to stay in power at all cost, that’s the Chavista motto, “we will win” at all cost)

Right now the so-called terrorist and traitors are in jail suffering torture with no possibility of defense, they were arrested inside their houses and jailed with no court order of due prosses. All those people several hundred in total are politicians, former military personnel, active military, lawyers and several civilians of all social status all accused in sham court proceedings were the judges are forced to run, some of them (Judges and attorneys) leave the country asking for asylum in fear of a change in the regime let them expose to international law on crimes against humanity.

So please stop defending us (the people of Venezuela) if you think that helping the current regime is what the people here really want; you are separated from reality, there is NOT a trace of that in TeleSur or RT or any other pro Chavista news outlet. just propaganda approve by the author of the tragedy.

There are actual people in hunger, sick with no medicines, angry but afraid of the Chavistas paramilitaries forces that keep the poor at bay by the force of their guns. There are thousands of people, poor people with no money to buy a plane or bus ticket that is walking their way to Peru, to Colombia to Chile! that’s is happening and the Chavistas are saying that it is all a show set up by the media. That’s is the kind of crap TeleSur gives you. there is no crisis, all is good, no problem here, no need for help or assistance.

Well I just was looking for a line or two but this crap is my day to day, it turns any Venezuelan into a nonstop talking head… if you happen to know one for real you know that is true. All the rest is crap and /or fanatical Chavista fairy tales.

Amen.

Also, if anybody is interested (and not just being a dogmatic propaganda spewing machine)… check some “revolutionary” success as what are OLPs and what they do (police brutality to make anything you can show from the US look small… even if it isnt), what is the SEBIN and what has it done in cases like the Polichacao officers that they have retained in their dungeons even with excarcelation orders from a judge, because law and procedure and stuff is just below the “guardians” of the “revolution” for “the People”, and the inmense fortunes that well connected government officers and friendly entrepreneurs have amassed in Venezuela, then squirrelled away to buy real state in Spain, Miami, etc.

Then, remember that the current regime consider a national holiday the day Chávez tried to execute a coup to oust a democratically elected president, because his neoliberal policies and repression were too much to endure.

Not that I have any hope of any of the current military leaders having any honor, but… well… it would be ironic, if it wasnt about to make one want to cry.
