Lewandowski was already batting with two strikes: He was fired before Election Day in 2016 after clashes with Trump’s family and then was fired from a pro-Trump super PAC in 2021 over allegations he made unsolicited sexual advances toward a female donor.
Anybody else find it a little weird that someone working for Trump got fired because of sexual harassment? It’s that whole “handing out speeding tickets at the Indy 500” thing.

Part of TFG’s pathology is trying to get his allies to work against each other. He had his own neighboring casinos management competing with each other, one being run by Ivana, his then wife. It’s part of the reason his casinos failed. It’s the Team of Rivals approach, except he wants them fighting it out instead of working together, so that only the “killers” who work for him survive the experience. It’s entirely possible he encouraged Lewandowski to try a coup, to shake things up.
