Trump says his "authority is total"

I thought it might be from Buck Rogers XXV role-playing game. They had RAM, the Russo-American Mercantile, as the bad guys controlling Earth.

The only thing that is “total” about dRumph is how much of an ass he is.

James’s easy rule about Trump: if his lips are flappin’, he is either lying or incorrect - or both.

IIRC RAM is on Mars.

It is the Ghost in the Shell map. And DRA is the Democratic Russo-American Alliance.

Yes.

I had to stop reading that book when I got to the part about the candidate for President who was going to make America great again. It was just way too much.

No wonder Butler was too depressed to ever finish the third book.

More importantly, perhaps, is that we’re gonna need some agencies with a spine that will actually enforce.

Thank you. I was coming up with variations that indicated the ‘R’ might refer to Russia while googling, and that just didn’t make any sense to me. But of course, I’ve never read (is it a book?) Ghost in the Shell.

Jared. He’s like Trump in that he thinks his inherited wealth makes him more capable than anyone, despite a track record of accomplishments consisting of having a rich dad, and fucking someone else with a rich dad. He has been effective as a slumlord, has not been effective as a publisher, Mid-East diplomat, medical emergency coordinator, gov’t efficiency expert, prison/criminal justic reformer, trade deal negotiator, political strategist, wall-builder. He gets along with Trump, apparently, possibly a collective narcissism. He may well believe that had he actually been in charge he would have been effective.

It’s a manga, and then an anime movie, then a TV show (2 seasons), then a second movie, then like a completely different universe but with the same characters.

Ah, there we go! I cannot read graphic novels. It’s like a version of dyslexia, I guess.

Thanks!

The original anime is well worth the time…

I like the 1997 Anime movie, but I personally like the two TV series better. I probably can just chalk it up to the TV format having more time to tell the story.

We are already kind of living in a cyberpunk dystopia. We just don’t have the really good wet-ware yet. But there’s lots of garage biohackers working on stuff.

OK, I’ll look for it! I can watch anime, at least.

I’m sure it’s easy to find, as it’s a classic now…

The original Japanese title is Mobile Armored Riot Police

That is kind of funny.

“They’re Mobile Armored Riot Police”
“What do they do? Break up riots?”
“Mostly they hack into people’s brains, recover hostages, and do counter terrorism”

One of the fun things about GitS is how much the different versions vary, while also all being clearly the same thing.

I’ve just been doing a bit of searching on the various streaming services we can get, and boy-oh-boy are there are a lot of versions of GitS!!
