I agree this is a reasonable way to read the statement, although I think it’s okay to pile on trump some for the “no more elections” reading as well, based on his history with elections. Either way, trump will presumably ‘clarify’ that he meant “right-wing ‘Christians’ won’t have to vote in four years because they will have everything they want” – which is an incredibly stupid thing for a candidate to say. So make him insist that’s what he meant – giving the rightwing “Christians” everything they want – and then point out what that means he’s promising: national abortion ban, limited contraception, no gay marriage, no acceptance of trans people, “Christian” education, white conservatives in charge in defiance of democracy. Most people don’t want that sh*t.
I agree 100%
I sitll think that what he’s promising them is worse than all that.
No contraception.
No gay people.
No trans people.
Christian re-education camps.
No more people who don’t want that shit.
What will happen to them? Let’s just say that it’s not going to be good.
And also, he’s saying democracy WILL end. That’s what he means.
Yes, that is also one of the things that right wing “Christians” want. The end of democracy and the accomplishment of Christofascist policy aims go hand in hand.
I don’t know why @Jerry_Sneede is splitting hairs about this. The end of democracy is a big part of giving right wing Christians all that they want.
And parsing his statements here any other way IS indeed gaslighting. Because his meaning is pretty self-evident.
Once again, @Shuck does a brilliant break down of the remarks and replies. So well written.
I’m reading “fixed” as “I’ve fixed the dog.”; rendering democracy sterile.
NOT a christian ? welll , neither am i , but !
heheheheh !
I bet he’d love that.
Trump supporters know what he means.
T***p knows what he means. Anyone who hasn’t been asleep for 40 years knows what he means.
I think T***p’s mangled syntax is a big advantage for him, allowing Pollyannas and bad-faith actors to parse his rhetoric in ways that soften the Christo-fascist message.

NO. stop making things up.
dictators always tell you what they are going to do in plain language. take what they say at face value.
you are the one twisting words.
what he said and what you think are very different. take his words at face value. don’t read anything into it.
I think it’s easy to get used to Trump spouting gibberish, as he often does, where one has to ask, “What does he really mean, what’s he trying to say?” And there’s a certain amount of that almost every time he talks, but in this case there’s also a very clear premise to what he’s promising (even as he’s incoherent in other ways).
Yeah, there’s a lot of different ways in which you can read it, but all of those readings still involve the end of democracy.
@nubwaxer
“JD Vance approved this message!”
After various anecdotes have come out about his time in office, I’d believe it. (E.g. when Trump told “his” generals he wanted them to be “loyal” to him the way Hitler’s generals were to Hitler. Trump only changed his mind after it was explained to him that Hitler’s generals tried to kill him on multiple occasions…)
