Literally everything they say is pure projection.

So now they’re trying to cover up witnesses tampering for a trial about falsifying business records to cover up a hush money payment to cover up an affair in order to influence an election…

Who knows?
The people who are found guilty on 34 charges might not be the more savvy defendants.

We’ve been caught frauding, quick fraud harder! Fraud harder damn you, and we might just get out of this.

I’m frustrated that any good news like this is immediately followed by “but it will be very hard to prove”. It’s never a slam dunk, it’s always as hard a struggle as it could possibly be, every single time. Then again, I can see why accusations of Trump paying someone might be hard to believe.

Trump seems to be utterly incapable of not doing shady things.

They got paid?

Anyone still voluntarily attached to him cannot be bright.

Imagine if they had tried this tactic

The overuse of the word bombshell is starting to get to me.

I mean, yes, this is absolutely bombshell-level snit. Or it would be, for anyone else on earth. With this guy it’s just a Monday. Or a Wednesday. Or a Thursday, mid-morning. Or a Friday teatime.

Bombshell suggests that there will be some fallout, but we know there won’t be.

Still though: in this time of constant upheaval and the bulldozing of long-held norms, it’s nice that we can rely on some things never changing, e.g. that he’s consistently the worst of the worst of the worst in every situation. He’s the Vanta Black of fraud.

Pro tip: if you are employed by Donald Trump or the Trump Organization, you should immediately tell your manager that you have been approached by investigators and are terribly worried that you might be called as a witness against your employer. Stress that you really don’t want to do it, but you just might not have a choice. Let slip in passing that you are facing considerable financial hardship right now.

Counterpoint: If you are still employed by Il Douche or associates, and have not left out of dire concern for that state of your immortal soul, you may be a lost cause. Still, even if this is true, stiffing that asshole in whatever way is possible is still a good thing.

The extra-lunacy bit is that it’s not at all clear that the coverup was even useful.

A bit of consensual adultery with a porn star is far from the most notable moral turpitude that his apalogists have managed to be not-concerned about; and the fact that a porn star was involved would probably be actively helpful for the contingent who is really excited by Trump’s keen understanding of the “Prerogatives and immunities; for bros” unpublished-but-understood annex of “traditional family values”.

Was that known in 2016 though?

Hopefully they had the sense to demand cash in advance. Unmarked bills, small denominations.

I don’t work for them, but I still might let them know I’ve been approached by the DoJ, just in case…

Arguably, for anyone still working for Trump it would be quite reasonable to assume that they will be approached by the DoJ (or a DA) at some point.

Do they read here? I’ve been approached by the DoJ, the NSA, the CIA, the FDA, the KGB, and Interpol.

Send money now! Satisfaction guaranteed I will say nothing to any of them.

I’m not surprised at either the obvious compensation of witnesses, or the pathetic explanations by the campaign. What I mainly took away is that politics frickin’ pays. Six figures for everyone, for…what, exactly? Making phone calls? Filing paperwork? Attending meetings? What do political aides do?
