Any normal leader would have taken that softball question and hit it for a triple. An outstanding leader would have hit it out of the park. (Even a domed park.)
It didn’t have to be Churchillian, a Gettysburg Address, or “Nothing to fear but fear itself”. A simple gruff “We all have a lot of work to do, but I know we can do it together. So let’s roll up our sleeves… and wash our hands!” would have worked.
Instead,
