So, I had a thought while processing my wheat crop, an undemanding but mindlessly repetitive task. What if all the “88’s” that have been showing up in the Trump campaign are not actually dogwhistles, but a kind of covert batsignal to, well, the kind of folks who have done things that Trump has been retweeting, like yelling “white power” at a golf cart protest, or pointing guns at scary black pedestrians walking past their house, or, honestly, who knows? This would not be Trump, he does not have the patience for covert anything, but maybe from the Stephen Miller wing of the campaign. Or maybe it was just the VA heat. Damn, it was hot out there!

Maybe. Unless he can play the “deep state” card and claim he was pushed out? He can claim the forces arrayed against him are too strong (they did, after all, let Barack obama, who wasn’t even “born in this country” be president, so what hope does a freedom fighter like him have…) and now he’s going to work from the outside… Basically, all this, so he can keep fleecing the suckers and ginning up crowds.
I’m afraid even if he loses, this continues on for a while after…

I would like that, but that’s not how the authoritarian mindset works… I mean, shit, hitler’s swan song was cowardly shooting himself in the head after marrying and shooting his GF, while he sent actual old men and children to fight the Red Army and Western allies, and some people STILL see him as the epitome of Aryan manliness… It’s the cruelty they response to, not actual manliness.
