Yes, but it’s not like, there they were, walking down the street, minding their own business, when BOOM! they were out of work. They should have seen it coming. I’d bet no coal miner alive today shouldn’t have known that coal is dirty, limited, and soon to be obsolete. They chose to get a job in that field, and ignored the warning signs that have been there for decades.
The very fact that a lot of people have moved away and gotten other jobs, shows that it can be done. No, it’s not “easy”. Nothing worthwhile ever is.
Do you see anything in those two sentences that might lead someone who doesn’t really think they have much if any other options to conclude that maybe a job in coal will be ok for them?
Hint: “soon to be obsolete” and “warning signs that have been there for decades” don’t really play nicely with each other.
