Yeah, no. Switzerland would have happily extradited his ass if he could even get here, but Americans are not allowed off of their plague continent and into Switzerland right now, even if they are not seditious assholes.

He must have a big microwave to fit his TV in there.
He could have got away with it, if only he had microwaved his head.
It’s not too late, I reckon. Clue him in, then leave him alone in the prison kitchen and see what happens.
If by “the devices” you mean the microwave, and by “unreadable” you mean an unusable toxic waste dump, I think the answer is a resounding yes!
For digital devices, my extensive viewing of Veronica Mars taught me that strong magnets are the way to go.
Okay, first: Switzerland has an extradition treaty with the US.
Even aside from that, though, it’s not like you can just decide to move to Switzerland from the USA. This guy’s plan was apparently to just overstay his 90-day Schengen Area visit and imagine that they wouldn’t deport him.
He microwaved his electronics, but later ditched his cell phone?! I’m wondering whether the microwave didn’t damage the phone and he realized it, or whether people are so attached to their phones that they don’t consider destroying them when they feel they have to destroy all of their electronics.
Monsters, John. Monsters from the id!
I just wanna see all that that smug wiped from his sedition-supporting face. Grr!
Microwaved his electronics? I mean, it’s a bit late there, dude. I wonder what he was trying to do - disassociate himself from his phone’s sim card, by which he was tracked during the siege, or just trying to wipe the memory of the devices, and with it lots of incriminating photos and videos? (Which might also be stored in the cloud?) Or incriminating communications, which would be stored on servers? Doesn’t seem like there would be much gained by it…
This must have been the guy that was hugging and kissing the cops like Trump said!
it sure sucks when your revolution turns out to be one more grift from the lying cheating president that already had you fooled.
He does look like a guy whose devices have been microwaved
Or perhaps he microwaved his original phone and bought a new one which he hoped wouldn’t be easily tied to his identity? It’s pretty hard to successfully do that, though prepaid SIM cards are a thing and I think you can still pay cash for them. Of course, that anonymity would break as soon as you start placing calls to people you know, or leave the phone on while making a few credit card transactions or checking in at the airport…
Geophysicist, huh?
Any chance he’s some sort of savant?
Because his choices and actions seem really stupid…
We looked into this at the time. He’s not a scientist and has no doctorate.
The pulled quote from the indictment gets even weirder…his paranoia was increasing exponentially.
They located the vehicle, which Mr. Sabol was driving, and discovered that he was covered in blood from severe lacerations on his thighs and arms. Id. at 10. Mr. Sabol has admitted to law enforcement that he had attempted to take his own life. Id. When the Clarkstown officers found Mr. Sabol, he made spontaneous statements, including “I am tired, I am done fighting”; “My wounds are self-inflicted”; “I was fighting tyranny in the D.C. Capitol”; and “I am wanted by the FBI.”
