Kevin Roberts, says Trump is only playing clueless lying to win votes.

He’s clueless and he’s lying.

He’ll gladly ride the Heritage Foundation’s fascist plan to power but that doesn’t mean he’s actually bothered to read any of the details. He only cares about policy insomuch as it affects him personally.

Isn’t this basically admitting they know how horrifyingly terrible it is? They know exactly what it is, and therefore the most reasonable move is to not publicly support it.

They know how it might be seen to others but a psychopath neither cares what you think nor what you know. They are the ubermensch and will tell you what to be.

I believe Trump when he says he doesn’t know much about Project 2025. The thing is, it doesn’t really require his knowledge- merely his compliance. If signs the laws they ask him to, nominates the judges they suggest he nominates, etc. then that’s all they need. And since he’s already been doing exactly that, we should very much expect him to continue.

MAGA doesn’t care, Do the “swing” voters actually care?

Oh, he’s absolutely complicit. He’s not a pawn in any of this so much as a despot who hates to be bothered with the tedious details of governance.

Trump didn’t become a dictator in his first term because he doesn’t have the aptitude or attention span to build a dictatorship. Project 2025 is the solution to that problem, crafted by acolytes who are proud to handle the tedious details of building a dictatorship for him.

Less than 12 hours after the Project was released, speculation was that Trump would say exactly what he is saying. I’m surprised the folk who came up with it are stupid enough to explain that to the public exactly how the opponents of it are explaining it to the public. They really do believe that everyone else is stupid. Basically, Democratic Congress candidates should run on keeping a copy of this book and outlaw every single strategy it advocates.

MAGA is the leopard’s eating people’s faces party, after all.

Judging by Biff’s lies about knowing nothing about it, there is some worry in his campaign that his allies’ extremist agenda is off-putting to many of them.

Please keep spreading the word about it, and ask the people you tell to pass it on in turn.

He’s not a pawn, but he’s also clearly not a details guy. So he’s fully aware of it but has never actually read any of the stuff they wrote or listened to their explanations. Doesn’t mean he isn’t complicit, but it does mean it’s correct to say he doesn’t know a lot about it.

He’s the sort of asshole boss whose ears perk up if there’s any opportunity to be pennywise and pound foolish, or if any of “his” agenda lacks sufficient cruelty. Other than that, he’s completely oblivious to details.

On this one particular subject. The rest of the time, he’s not playing.

This is exactly how he committed fraud. His level of involvement is likely the same in all instances. He’s not agile.

He’s just a sociopath.

It’s pointless to rank him on a scale of intelligence or stupidity as the problem is that he’s a fucking sociopath.

I associate intelligence with careful planning. Some people associate it with hurting the right people.

Whatever the nature of his intelligence it’s what he applies it towards over the trajectory of his life that makes it so repulsive.

Also, the people who want to rule through Trump have realized that they can’t use high profile advisors to steer him. They attract too much attention, and when Trump sees Fox stories about “the real power in the White House”, like with Bannon, he has a tantrum and fires them.

Instead, they want thousands of their own apparatchiks in the mid levels, translating Trump’s brain farts into their policies.

The Koch network claims to be sitting out the presidential election, but meanwhile, they’re all in for Project 2025.

A MAGA deep state that will remain MAGA even if the Republicans lose the White House. An incoming Democratic President would have to decide whether to fire them en masse without cause – using powers introduced under Project 2025 – or accept that the civil service, like the judiciary, will be full of MAGA ideologues for decades to come.
