My grandfather called me and my sisters by the names of various nieces and nephews (always the same one for each of us) from when we were born, so it started at least 20 years before he died, without it ever developing into anything you’d otherwise consider dementia symptoms. No idea why, it just was. Not really what I think is going on here, and not really something I’d want in a president regardless. My point is, even the best-case scenario for what’s going on is not good.
That’s less bad that dementia, but still pretty darn bad for a president. You need to know what information to share and reveal in what contexts, how candid and familiar to be with a given audience at a given time. Not that Trump ever showed the ability to do that, but unless your pet names are a matter of longstanding public record it’s not a good sign (sadly the only example I can think of right now is Pence calling his wife “mother”).

I doubt it, but if so, it would be in character for him to name her after a fancy car. Since before they married, he’s used her as a prop to show off his supposed wealth, power, and masculine prowess.

Yeah, this has me thinking it’s something he calls her when he’s pissed off at her or (perhaps more likely) has obviously wronged her. Or maybe it’s like “Rosebud.”
