TSA's new "pat-downs" are so invasive, airports are pre-emptively warning cops to expect sexual assault claims

Considering the well off have their own planes, if more people are turned off flying, then the airlines will suffer quite a bit. Not seeing the downside of that TBH and if they lose enough money, watch this program get dropped fast.

Or the airlines could just tell the TSA to get lost…

I may have mentioned this before. When I have to go through the porno-scanners (not the regular metal detectors the wealthy and connected paid $85 to go through for five years) and assume “The position” with my hands over my head… I always very slightly raise my middle fingers in a way that makes someone wonder if I’ve giving them the finger, but not in a way that would be considered definitive in any way. Just enough to make someone wonder. Does it help any? No. Does it make me feel better? Yes. Yes it does.

Way to move the goal posts
Most people I know got into pre check through a pre-existing FF membership, not through payment.

Yes, I’m wrong - everyone who flies regularly is fabulously wealthy and an over-privileged asshole who deserves to be felt up by the TSA and have their privilege checked at all times. Are you happy now?

His point is that Global Entry, if you can pass the background check, is $75 for 5 years. The background check as near as I can tell mostly involves having no connections to Muslim terror countries. I got interviewed briefly about my trips to India, which satisfactorily was explained as “work”. So it’s a matter of having a clean criminal record, and a couple bucks to front.

What I think @kaibeezytentroy is referring to more is your usage of the word, “Connected”. There is an elitism to having Global Entry, and in general traveling a lot–but that elitism is not knowing a “who” it’s knowing the “what”: the protocols for navigating air travel efficiently. I’m sure there’s a better word for it than, “Connected”, which feels like an awkward fit.

Chillax. That is not what Cory nor anyone else here claimed. In fact, Cory pointed out that he too uses the system.

I enjoy several forms of privilege that are off limits to many other Americans. It doesn’t hurt me in any way to simply acknowledge that I am lucky to have those opportunities.

this is the TSA payback for the many failures that have been exposed on the news. The TSA needs complete overhaul and should be subject to citizen review…

The TSA needs to be dragged out back and shot in the face…with a bazooka…then set on fire…then buried…then nuked from orbit.

Oh, hey, I’m not alone in taking that slightly juvenile action!

Why does travel to/from India get scrutiny? It is not predominantly Muslim, nor on the list of sketchy countries, so far as I am aware.

Put them up against the wall, then snap the gloves on.

There is zero data in your response to validate your claim. You have no idea how much money this poster makes vs. U.S. median.

Why does being “successful enough to fly on commercial airplanes regularly” in ANY WAY imply that someone is privileged? It sure ain’t if you’re not a white person! And frankly, flying SUCKS, I wouldn’t wish it on anybody.
