TSA's new "pat-downs" are so invasive, airports are pre-emptively warning cops to expect sexual assault claims

sui generis - i have never once watched fox news ever - got an example?

i feel dirty - but it’s what happened

Years ago, I wrote the TSA a letter, telling them I thought one of their screeners had groped me inappropriately, curious to know more about my genitals. I asked about what he was allowed to do and what their policies around trans passengers were.

They wrote back saying they don’t intend to make anyone unhappy.

I still opt out. Anyway, my solution is to stop visiting the US.

Well, that tears it, I won’t be flying until this insanity is brought to an end. My entire adult life, every time I have flown, I have had the dreaded “ssss” on my boarding pass. Now that secondary screening will come with sexual assault. :rage:

I got an SSSS flying out of Heathrow last time. I checked through and got to the gate with no issue. Then my name was called just before boarding to a small alcove next to the door to the jet way.

All that was requested was I take my electronics out and they swabbed them while I watched. It came back clear and I was allowed to board.

I could deal with this if this was the norm for enhanced patdown in the US

It turns out that cruise ships actually have worse carbon footprints than planes. But much less groping.

That’s really saying something.

Any trip to the US is getting less and less attractive despite the fact that I really want to go visit my friends.

One time I had an unopened bottle of scotch that ended up in a carry on. They caught that blunder, and escorted it out like it was polonium.

Nope. Still opting out. Always and forever.

I really feel nothing but pity for the SOBs that need to stand next to machines that have been calibrated in secret with zero knowledge of what else is being thrown off but definitely not allowed to carry dosimeters. Seriously, I’ll bet we’ll be looking at long term effects that they don’t even consider.

Because safety.

They probably spent the rest of the night disposing of the contraband.

Now that’s just false. I am a huge white dude and I have never been given a second glance by any TSA agent.

You must not fly often. I’m a middle aged white guy who flies about 100,000 miles a year and I get secondary screened every quarter or so.

The cancer boxes are long gone. What we have now are millimeter wave scanners, they won’t fry you even if they are miscalibrated.

I don’t fly 100,000 miles a year but I’m going through security a few times a month flying for work for the past 6 years or so.

Sure, but I’m not standing next to them for eight hours a day like the TSA employees. Have there been any long term studies done?

Read that as “people who can fly on their own private parts.” See what this country is coming to?
