Mastodon basically automates this process by providing a “delete and re-draft” option in addition to the normal “delete” action. It deletes the post and then puts the text of it (and any attachments, if you had them) back in the compose box. Like Twitter, they’ve come down on the side of “edits have dangerous negative unintended consequences that would be too complex to mitigate effectively”.

A gaming website i visit tried that and it worked very well, had a timed 5-minute window to edit, and edited posts were marked as being edited. Minimal viability to trolley and the vast majority of typos were easily fixed.

Why do you refuse to ban a twitter user (who has actually has the power to follow through on their threats) that threatens other specific twitter users with acts that are considered war crimes?
