This piece by Viktor Ullmann was also composed during his time at Terezin and is probably his most performed:

Ullman, on how productive his time there was: “By no means did we sit weeping on the banks of the waters of Babylon. Our endeavor with respect to arts was commensurate with our will to live.”

We had the Tony Kushner and Maurice Sendak book about the story based on the opera when my daughter was young… it’s probably still in the house somewhere.
