UC Davis's Officer Pepper Spray gets a $38K payout for mental trauma of being hated by the entire world

That’s not a gun on Pike’s side?

Here is a picture of the second police officer:

Second one has a gun, clearly holstered on his right hip. First one does not, on blowup, they COULD be magazine pouches, but are not holsters. . . First guy COULD be a southpaw, typically, you use a waist holster on your dominant side, and the second shot does NOT show a cross-draw holster. . . .(which are typically worn as shoulder rigs. . . )

Would you consider pepper spray a weapon? I do. The police do, also. I’m afraid your opinion isn’t determinative, but thanks for the casual invalidation!

But, long and short of it, you’re admitting your mistake, RIGHT?

I mean, it’s no biggie to admit a mistake, RIGHT?

Since I apparently do not know what a gun looks like, what is that thing that I highlighted using a yellow box?

@AcerPlatanoides: Yes, I would consider pepper spray a weapon. The investigative report states that “The MK-9 is not an authorized weapon under UCDPD guidelines” so apparently they label it a weapon. Also, the investigation found that “the evidence does not provide an objective, factual basis for Lt. Pike’s purported belief that he was trapped, that any of his officers were trapped, or that the safety of their arrestees was at issue.” http://reynosoreport.ucdavis.edu/reynoso-report.pdf or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UC_Davis_pepper-spray_incident

It has just been established that he was indeed armed. So do you now admit that it’s “a VERY different story” than the one you were just describing?

He didn’t pull the weapon. There is a substantial difference between carrying a holstered weapon, and USING it. The officer only ever pulled and employed the NON-LETHAL weapon. And thus, it IS a very different story, than if he played it like all too many cops these days do, and started shooting up things. You may recall the man-hunt in LA last summer, where LAPD cops shot up a BLUE pickup truck, when they were trying to find a BLACK pickup. And while I’m not sure of this, I seem to recall it was a different make and model than the one they were seeking as well. . .

I see. A man with a gun isn’t “armed” unless he’s actually HOLDING his weapon.

Christ almighty. You do realize that you could actually save some measure of credibility by admitting you were wrong, right?
