It’s like when my cat tries to help me do yoga. Tho he is useful for extra weight in some poses
I guess Catligula would be the heir and successor of Tigerius?
I’ll bet Catigula could Clawdius his way through anything.
That’s Our Meep in the thumbnail!
Segue is so named b/c gray-headed X black flying fox hybrid. I can’t remember which way it works, but blacks’ and grays’ leggies are different from one another: one has leg hair all the way down to their ankles, and the other doesn’t. Segue has the coat of a gray, but the leg hair or lack thereof of a black. I think he’s also closer in size to a black FF. He’s being very cute in that 2nd vid, but he’s usually a troublemaker and an occasional bully.
Poppy’s a major troublemaker who’s taught at least one baby bat all the best batty swearwords, and Copernicus is her BF and partner in crime.
A sky-pup named Copernicus. I love it!
Switched at birth?
I searched and searched, but couldn’t find one of my favorite Copernicus vids.
He sneaked up behind the half-asleep Gelert to scare him. He silently crept closer and closer. Gelert suddenly saw him at long last, and freaked TF out, screaming and flailing! Copernicus immediately fled a short distance away, did an elaborate “bigwings” display (caretaker Batzilla described it, “To muddy the waters!”) - feigning both fear and an attempt to scare off whatever had just frightened poor Gelert.
Gelert’s fearful yelling continued thruout C’s “flight” and bigwings-ing, and Copernicus maintained his innocent, “Wow! What was that scary thing?” act.
Absolutely hysterical, save for poor Gelert.
I know nowt of Copernicus’ biography, but do know a little about Gelert.
I think he was born in captivity, which was a good thing, as he’s had a bone weakness disease since birth or V early childhood. It made him an old man long before his time.
He mostly lies on his back, being an adorable golden blonde-ruffed package with his wings closely folded at his sides, or wrapped round him and his feet drawn up by his belly. He sometimes hangs a foot or thumb above him. He scoots around like the other flightless bats, using the ropes and/or mesh walls/ceilings, but he can be quite wonky.
He’s usually very sweet, and appreciates everything that’s done for him, making cute happy little squeaks. He also spends a good amount of time loudly and shrilly criticizing other bats and their actions, and being outraged in general. He does his level best to fill the shoes? of his dear friend, the aviary geriatric ahem wing’s namesake, the late, great Walter, King of Complaints.
Batzilla makes sure the old folks in the aviary’s Waltorf Batoria wing have plenty of sturdy horizontal netting to lounge and snooze on, and more of it to catch them in case of falls.
ETA: She also installs plenty of slings for the non-flyers in permanent care. This one took Copernicus by surprise:
Note Poppy in the background picking on Jackie, the little red flying fox, who only came out to see what the fuss was about.
