Well valves that you operate regularly you’d motorize. At some level, putting motorized controls on valves that are not normally used introduces another mode of failure. This is about having robots able to go into hazardous places like melted down nuclear plants or burning refineries to do things in an emergency that you’d never do in normal operation.

That’s horrible, and made more so by the fact that I really did laugh out loud in my office at this remark. (needed to say it, a heart just didn’t do it enough justice).

I totally saw the virtual valve open and blast the robot with the imaginary steam that knocked it over.
