Did he stop in Montreal?
Sadly the article doesn’t say if the drive-thru he got stuck in was a Tim Horton’s, but that is where a lot of people in Canada end up after a night of drinking.
Why not just drive across a lawn in Derby Line? Watch how 7 people illegally crossed a US-Canada border by driving across a shared lawn - Boing Boing
From experience working in the tourism industry in Niagara Falls, it’s actually very common for people to go through customs at the border (on a bridge no less), be asked if they’re bringing anything into the country that needs to be declared, have their passports/visas checked, pass a lot of Canadian flags, and still somehow not know they’ve left the USA.
Most of them were even sober.
Well he wasn’t looking for cheaper booze - maybe wanted a deal on his scrips?
