Video: African dances, from A to Z


I loved this. Even as someone who follows both current and historical african popular music with great relish I’d not heard of at least half of there. And of course, since we all love mashup-and-bricoalge-culture here, it partly references i-D’s “A-Z of Dance” from earlier this year:


That was fantastic! Great collection of dancers and dances - really wonderful!

I would love to know which were traditional and which were modern.

I can make some guesses, but I’m sure that seeing it through the lens of all my cultural baggage makes those guesses not much different from random chance.
