The possibly apocryphal story relating to blowing herb smoke over the tape reels is attributed to Lee Scratch Perry not King Tubby as you linked. Tubby was famous for not allowing even tobacco to be smoked in his studio as he didnt want any of the equipment gummed up by smoke residue. Whether Scratch really did that or not is pretty much impossible to know for sure but its at least as true as any of the lore of Kingston at the time whether it happened or not.
