Both my European grandads fought the Nazis. But they were never WWII Veterans™.
We knew there were a period of 5 years in their youth they didn’t want to talk about and that was pretty much it. They were identified by their jobs and status as family men.
The obsession with war veterans is a weird American thing that seems to have strengthened recently. Question is, why is BoingBoing is buying into it?
Didn’t watch yet, but I presume there’s a lot of ignoring the world in order to live so long.
As for cigars and whiskey, I believe all the healthy foods needed are coffee, red wine and vodka, dark chocolate for a solid.
