The poem is Russian but the video depicts events in the pacific theatre. This is one of the fiew examples I’ve seen in western media showing japanese soldiers as human and having lives they put on hold.
Stories of POW camps and other scary things probably have something to do with the absense of that reminder. I say this as grandson of a man who went to Iwo and went to his grave almost seventy years later believing he was damned to hell for the things he did and saw there.
War is worse than Hell. Everyone in Hell deserves to be there. War sucks everyone in, guilty and innocent alike, and leaves them all damaged.
As an aside: How is this topic, according to the board’s algorythm similar to this one?
