Wakanda removed from official U.S. list of trade partners

I used to use “Art Vandelay” as a test entry – we had a marketing video in which someone pulled that up for the demo. That was 1998 or so; someone put it on YouTube & now I can’t find it. More recently, for a project for the USPS, I used Henry Atkins.

Well, see, if you were one of the billionaire vibranium importers who had the inside scoop from the Trump administration that the tariff was going to be imposed and got your exemption application in the day it began, you have nothing to worry about. If you were one of the schmucks Don Jr. didn’t notify ahead of time, you can just pass the tariff on to your customers and go out of business while the cronies of the Children of the Corn undersell you. /s

I joke, but that’s exactly how the tariffs work and the willful ignorance of the “temporally embarrassed billionaire” turkeys marching to the slaughter who refuse to acknowledge the blatant corruption is unsurprising but pathetic.

Oh, sure, take my lame attempt at humor and turn it into an opportunity for learning! Damn man!

Canada… Canada… ohhhhh right, the fictional country Wolverine is from.

Yeah, they’d never have caught a reference that obscure.

Okay, that’s kinda handy.

Full disclosure: I once had a production database vandalized by Russian porn spammers due to an oversight on my part being compounded by the derpiness of our hosting provider. And yes, by that point in time I had the Bobby Tables comic up on the wall in our main work area, so was able to use it to explain my screwup. Also kinda handy.

Lesson learned from an effort at populating person-name fields creatively in a project for Sybase, decades ago: Don’t use the Yoyodyne Propulsion staff list from Buckaroo Banzai as source material, it will look like the first name field is stuck.

You’ve got to be careful, for, one day, the Tables will turn.

I was at a company luncheon recognizing us for service anniversaries, and the Senior VP announced “for one year, Pos Training.” When no one stood, he stumbled through a few other pronunciations, then apologized for probably mispronouncing it. It took a while for him to figure out that it was the training account used at Point Of Sale (POS).

The fictional country Ruritania is often used in academic and legal hypothetical cases when wanting to avoid confusion with a real country.

Take a left at Erewhon.
