You’re assuming that they have the exact same set of choices that you have. They likely don’t, existing as people who have historical (and by that I mean in our life times!) been marginalized and made the butt of jokes. Plenty of people have linked to articles and commentary on that case.
Available choices aren’t the same for everyone else as they are for you. They just aren’t. Many different groups in our society have consistently lived with far less choices than white, cisgendered, able-bodied, men with money. This continues to be the case for many of those groups.
And while some people may be willing to argue from a position that just assumes Little People are somehow not a marginalized and discriminated minority in this society, they most certainly are.
Long story short; people can obviously think whatever they like, it won’t change the law that’s likely going to be put into effect.
