There seems to be a mismatch between the feeding bowls and size of the animals.

I, too, find the emus terrifying.

Me too. Apparently they can’t focus on things very close to their face, so they line up on the food from 6 to 12 inches away, and then dart in really quickly to grab it before it moves. Even knowing this, I still recoil, so I have never successfully fed an emu.

I can. There are some tame-ish ones here, which is about 5 minutes form where I live
