Now this was a good use of vertical video.
It was “a makeshift safety net that the fire department had created with a tent”, he could have done worse than twist an ankle. Still better than burning alive (or smoke inhalation).

I’ve heard people who live in areas with paid firefighters suggest that there are more bad outcomes in areas covered by volunteer companies. That’s usually a divide between cities and suburbs or rural areas. However, aside from differences in regulations and requirements, I’m not sure there’s any data to back up those claims.
