I cringe when I see him using abrasives on a lathe, without covering the ways and other precision moving parts. In metal shop, that was a big no-no.

Hopefully this is an already “junk” lathe and not for any precise work.

I could watch this stuff all day.

At first, he appears to be just a skilled hobbyist. Then he makes his own springs and bolts from scratch and shit gets real.

I’m not used to seeing micrometers with shiny dials. They’re all satin around here. I wonder if that’s more or less work to achieve when restoring an old steel instrument.
