…
It is a terrible film in both of the current versions, so I will probably not jump in to watch this one without waiting to let others see how it turned out.
The one good thing about Caligula is that you can tell people, truthfully, that you saw a porn movie with Peter O’Toole in it. Preferably while you are watching My Favorite Year with them
Ages ago, I was in the Virgin Megastore in Downtown Disney and they had a DVD of the unrated version of Caligula, and I was similarly momentarily tempted to buy it, simply so I could honestly say that I bought porn at Disney World.
I don’t know if giving someone more footage to work with is the right move; I’ve never seen it but I’ve heard the main problem is it’s ridiculously long.
(No comment from Michael Scott, please.)
The clips from this new version look very washed out; like MCU style colour-grading.
I liked the movie. Don’t know why people complain about it. Maybe because I watched it without any expectations. Really can’t call it porn in today’s context of what’s readily available on the Internet. Look forward to seeing a different edit.
The set brought to life what opulence feels like.
People binge watch 8 hour longs shows now, in one sitting.
Lil: This is for ladies only!
Alan Swann: So is this ma’am (unzips fly), but every now and then I have to run a little water through it.”.
There are better films for 8 hour binges
Liberation
War and Peace
Das Boot
Until the End of the World
But none of those films have hot girl on girl action or Roman decapitation chariots, so…
No thanks!
That’s what binge watching the Spartacus series is for.
So much trash nowadays, that people binge, that even an average film like Caligula seems like a work of art.
Never saw the original, the only thing I ever saw was the Penthouse special Caligula edition as a teenager.
PG stuff by today’s standards.
Does not look like an improvement.
My friend Erin played his wife! (So, I haven’t watched it. It would be…weird. I can happily watch her slap Don Draper though!)
Yeah, that first episode would be a bit awkward.
According to her wiki, she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016. I hope she’s doing OK.
Hope this guy’s better at editing film than he is at editing and subtitling a “here’s what I did to make this film blah blah blah doesn’t matter what I type here because I’m not going to leave it on screen long enough for you to read it.”
Thanks. Everything is going ok at the moment, but, you know.
Fuck cancer
