I’d like to know if the slug eventually learned to cope with its strong aversion to water, or if it does this everytime it comes across a water drop.
er, slugs are very môist water associated beasties. (sez one who hiked their share of rain-forests). what likely caused this fine fellow’s reaction was a sudden realignment of surface tension; which at a smaller size might be a bit like a towel snap to us.
(“So you’re tell’n me that the wicked witch of the west never encountered a rain storm or could even risk being spat upon?”)
How would you react if you came across a basketball sized sphere of water that, the instant you touched your nose to it, suddenly jumped at you and engulfed your entire head?
Poorly. I would react poorly. As I do everything.
