So leg autotomy (self removal) is common in arthropods. They have a special sensory-motor circuit for cutting off a leg as a survival mechanism in case a predator grabs them by the leg. This is the first I’ve ever heard of whole body autotomy, though. Very cool.
Cool in concept; hard pass on actually watching the process as it happens.
