Al Lewis was just a standup guy in general who really appreciated his fans. I remember being thrilled to meet him as a teenager, politely saying “Nice to meet you, Mr. Lewis” to which he replied with his famous laugh and told me “Just call me ‘Grandpa’!”.

Oh man…he really reminds me of my own grandfather. I miss him (my grandfather, not Al Lewis).
