again, I fucking love that movie! and caines most lovable character ever.
I like the implications of this- that none of Chewie’s dialogue is gibberish and he has a whole set of hidden lines that you could potentially add in via dubbing or subtitles. I wonder if the same is true for all the Jawas, Tusken Raiders, droids, etc.
Nah! mate, if he was a Cockney 'eed av a cuppa cha but if he was kinda posh like, t’would be a cuppa Rosy Lee. Cheers!
Supposedly Vin Diesel has written (English) dialogue for Groot’s lines as well just to help get the inflection right.
Can’t believe this hasn’t been posted yet. The Guy Ritchie cockney Star Wars.
Perhaps Mayhew was being paid extra to help weld parts of the set.
And how are you named Chewbacca if your language goes “AAgrrrrohghooowa”? It’s a running gag, similar to “I am Groot.”
That’s not a cockney accent. It’s just a pretty standard working-class southern English one. Cockney is a very specific accent (that’s almost disappeared now, as the parts of East London it came from are now multicultural and/or gentrified).
Maybe Chewbacca is his slave name? Re: origin story
2 of my favorite movies. Absolutely fantastic!
It’s like they made this movie in London or sumfink.
