I like the implications of this- that none of Chewie’s dialogue is gibberish and he has a whole set of hidden lines that you could potentially add in via dubbing or subtitles. I wonder if the same is true for all the Jawas, Tusken Raiders, droids, etc.

Supposedly Vin Diesel has written (English) dialogue for Groot’s lines as well just to help get the inflection right.

And how are you named Chewbacca if your language goes “AAgrrrrohghooowa”? It’s a running gag, similar to “I am Groot.”

That’s not a cockney accent. It’s just a pretty standard working-class southern English one. Cockney is a very specific accent (that’s almost disappeared now, as the parts of East London it came from are now multicultural and/or gentrified).
