DOES NOT COMPUTE
Apparently, people liked the last movie just fine when it came to paying to watch it.
So you’re saying you will never watch TFW, Rogue One, or any other Disney Star Wars thing. No Rebels either?
all this time we’ve been seeing the mid-life-crisis empty-nest sports-car version
I watched Season 1 of Rebels in the hope of learning Ahsoka’s fate. Nope, she didn’t die when Order 66 was executed.
Other than that?
If they can convince me that they’re building something new and awesome, something that is better than what they’ve torn down, then I’ll indulge them. So far, from what I’ve heard, TFA is just a rehash of the original Star Wars movie.
Until then, why should I reward them with my money for an inferior product?
Ok. I doubt they care to convince you from within their money vaults.
The new movie was actually good but, then, you’re relying on second hand reports.
And “inferior” describes the EU, I’m afraid. It is ironic to complain about Disney’s quality while praising it.
Thank you for your opinion.
You’re welcome, bro. Glad to help.
And for a different viewpoint on “quality”, let’s hear from noted “author” Kevin J. Anderson…
Uggh. That entry is graphic, vulgar, with poor English; it’s insulting and has no respect for either the people reading it or the context in which it was published.
All of which raises the question: How do you think they got KJA to write it?
Speaking of tired tropes!
I should be thankful that Star Wars has steered clear of the"computer blows up when it can’t solve a problem" cliche that seem to plague, what, every 5th episode of Star Trek TOS?
Citation needed.
I almost added this to my original post:
Personal life
He’s apparently a very sweet, nice and sincerely lovely fellow, the
sort of fan you wish you had more of at conventions, someone no-one has a
bad word about (except his writing), and I almost felt guilty about
this article until I read his writing again.
He certainly is a professional, and must be able to write an absolutely killer book proposal.
What do you think that droid that Luke almost ended up with in ANH did? Saddled with the knowledge it was going to be working on a moisture farm in a desert for the rest of its life thus cutting into its leisure time it couldn’t solve the dilemma of what to do and thus blew out its own motivator.
It’s one of my favorite tropes.
But ST:TOS was so anti-military-establishment that it was at pains to point out that techno-futurism was a dangerous, mis-placed idealism. Kirk got his shirt torn off because ALL FLESH MATTERS.
Ooooh, I just found this:
When I saw that scene played out, I couldn’t help feel that that was put in there just to sell more toys, but then I have been accused of being too cynical
Well, there is also the theory that droid was the first ever non living force sensitive being. He glimpsed a future where R2’s plans never made it out of Jawa hands and sacrificed himself so the dark side would not prevail.
For @enso & @Blaze_Curry who like Smurrrrfs Iiiiin Spaaaace so much.
BTW, @nimelennar if you care - at all - about Lady Tano, you really should watch, minimally, the last two episodes of S2. Also, re: Order 66, that only applied to Jedi, and by then, she had been kicked out of The Jedi Order. She was/is no longer a Jedi - which is addressed in Rebels, both her not being a Jedi & Order 66 - primarily at the beginning of S2 IIRC. Also, if you liked the Clone Wars. Episodes 1 & 2 of S2 are a must see.
