I knew a dog that would fake a limp, or appear close to death if he’d been particularly egregious, when: told he couldn’t have a biscuit; told he’d just been for a walk, dammit; had a bollocking for peeing on anything he didn’t understand; bullying the other dog… The list could go on.

Since this appears to have been in Britain, I’m pretty sure the dog was just taking the piss out of its human.
(Piss-taking is a national pastime and pretty much all we’ve got left these days.)
