My family had a Saint Bernard who would “pre-wash” the plates by licking them clean while they were in the dish rack of the dishwasher before the cycle was started.
We were careful to not put knives or any sharp items into the dishwasher until the very end before starting it.

German Pinschers are so smart and the perfect size for a dog. Mine figured out how to defeat the child-lock today by opening both drawers. It’s a challenge to keep them challenged.
