This is a very distinctive subset of ‘good luck’ that can be found in A&E departments everywhere. I have had the misfortune of getting ‘lucky’ that way once or twice myself.

PS: Grateful thumbs-up to the video makers from this city dweller for showing how the possum got in.

Of course there is a German word (well, phrase) for that. It’s called Glück im Unglück (luck in misfortune).

That’s why it’s wrong to call Germans pedants. If they’re precise in their language in the first place there’s no reason to pedantically correct those nurses and doctors…
