Tried watching it and it’s a lot of filler. Figured i’d save myself the pain and i’ll just wait for the internet to just provide me the pics themselves.

The room full of astronomers at the UA was downloading and drooling over these photos as they were released during the webcast. I suspect there’s gonna be a lot more activity in astronomy Slack channels in the coming weeks.

Here’s the thing that really blows my mind. These were mostly exposures of hours, while the comparable Hubble pics are exposures of weeks, with so much less resolution. I think this is going to an incredibly exciting era in astronomy, if we can keep self-destruction at bay, anyway.
I’m old enough but I don’t think they ever imported that show to the states. I do remember Benny Hill referencing it though.
