Produced by Desilu studios! Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz had such a profound and lasting impact on television, not just by creating the Gold Standard for the sitcom format but also creating the most successful sci-fi TV franchise of all time.

It’s interesting to imagine an alternate history where Desilu and Welles beat Rod Sterling to the punch with this kind of short story anthology series.

ETA: At the end of the show, Welles tells us about the “next” episode, which was never to be as the pilot never went on to series. It was to have been another John Collier adaptation, “Green Thoughts.” This short story later became the uncredited source for Roger Corman’s The Little Shop of Horrors!

Interesting how they used the “Desilu” font for the pilot title:

I think Alfred Hitchcock Presents beat them both. AHP was already being successfully aired a year before Welles’ pilot, and thematically, the pilot was exactly the sort of story (irony/betrayal/foibles) that AHP was well into.
